Find a sensible next check
Match the article number before using a model-specific path. An uncertain match leads to an inspection checklist instead of a fitting adjustment.
Identify the item. Compare the right details.
Choose a problem and answer the condition questions. Your result will show what to check next and which photos are useful.
Illustrative example — not a diagnosis of your furniture.
Use the label and the full assembly instructions for your exact item. Similar-looking drawers, hinges and cam fittings can work differently.

MICKE drawer will not close
This desk uses roller runners. Compare the drawer-building sequence and final insertion step 26 in document AA-476633-15. Check the correct left/right layout, runner orientation and both sides of the path.
Before blaming a runner, inspect the drawer bottom and the joints around the front. An incorrectly assembled box can change how the drawer travels.
For a cam problem, compare the part pictured for that exact joint. The drawer cam detail distinguishes fitting 103114 from other cam types in the manual.

KALLAX door looks uneven
Check the supporting unit and insert position before adjusting a hinge. Document AA-1009339-8 shows separate directions for height, side-to-side and depth movement on pages 10 and 16.
A wedge-shaped gap is an observation, not proof that one specific screw needs turning. Compare both hinge positions and follow the drawing for your mounting side.
A mounting screw that spins or a damaged fixing point needs assessment. Repeated adjustment cannot restore a stripped mounting hole.

KOMPLEMENT drawer catches
Use the runner-placement drawing for your door layout, then compare steps 7–9 in document AA-938616-11. Check both sides and distinguish the front location from the rear locking detail.
The manual illustrates runner variants. Match your fittings before copying another drawer’s engagement or release method.
Drawer-box cams are a different connection from the runner locking levers. For the box, use the cam detail at step 4 on page 6.
Why the same symptom can have different causes
A drawer can stop because of an object behind it, an incorrectly assembled box, a runner fitted in the wrong position or damaged hardware. A door gap can reflect the hinge position, the insert or the supporting unit. The visible symptom helps narrow the inspection, but it does not identify the cause on its own.
Start by checking the item while it is empty, stable and supported as instructed. Photograph the first point of contact or the complete gap pattern. Next, compare that area with the exact assembly step. This gives you a useful observation to act on or share.
Furniture that worked before and has recently changed deserves another condition check. A move, an impact, a new load or a damaged connection can change the answer. Do not assume the original assembly is the only possible cause.

Questions before the next adjustment
Why does my IKEA drawer stop before closing?
Several conditions can produce that symptom, including an obstruction, a drawer-box problem, runner position or damaged hardware. Note where it stops and whether the sides behave differently. Then compare the empty drawer and matching runner details with the instructions for its exact article.
Can I use these checks for a different MICKE, KALLAX or KOMPLEMENT?
Use a detailed path only for the listed article and a matching assembly drawing. A different size, finish, generation or hardware revision may use different components. Select “Another model / not sure” for an inspection checklist and use that item’s own instructions.
Which hinge screw fixes an uneven door?
The gap alone does not identify a screw. First check the supporting unit, insert position and hinge mounting. Then distinguish the movement you need: height, side alignment or depth. Use the corresponding drawing for the exact hinge and mounting side.
Should I keep turning a cam lock that will not tighten?
Stop when the fitting resists turning, fails to engage or the panels remain apart. Confirm the cam, bolt and panel orientation for the exact joint. More force, a power driver or an improvised screw can damage the connection without resolving the cause.
Does a checklist result mean the furniture is safe to use?
No. The tool uses the observations you enter and cannot inspect the actual item. Cracks, pulled-out fittings, stripped holes, unstable furniture or incomplete required support need assessment before use. Follow the full product instructions and obtain help when a connection is damaged or uncertain.
Can I send this checklist for an assembly quote?
Yes. Copy the result and paste it into Notes on our quote form, together with the product information and project location. Our assembly services cover Philadelphia and selected nearby suburbs. The checklist does not submit a request automatically.
